Winx – Limited Edition Print

So some time ago I was given permission from Debbie Kepitis via Analese Trollope of Chris Waller Racing to paint Winx, I did this painting after her 25th win. The owners all saw it at that time however something Patty Tighe said made me decide not to show it until after she had safely finished racing! I am somewhat superstitious!

I simply wanted to capture her beauty on canvas, I did it because I can, I did it because she is beautiful and for my love of the flying thoroughbred. I didn’t want to only paint her racing and part of the reason for that is the way her owners and the people connected to her look at her in some of the photos.

She is not just Winx superstar, she is Winx their girl, They look at her the way I look at my own horse, and that is why I really wanted to do this painting. When she is racing you can see she knows her job, she loves her job and her work ethic is amazing. But I also wanted to show her non racing side, as she is genuinely beautiful, she knows she is a superstar and she knows how to work the camera!

So that I could share my painting with you I have created a strictly limited edition print run. This is your chance to own a bespoke piece of Winx history, each hand signed by me with a certificate of authenticity. Once they are sold this print image will never be available again. When you purchase from me you, you do so knowing that I spent countless hours creating this and it was painted from my heart and soul.

I genuinely hope you love my painting as my as I loved creating it!

Helen

Hi guys! I just wanted to say a very heart felt thank you for all of the love, comments and private messages about losing Ted this week. I am very overwhelmed by them all!
I will be honest, I started to read them but haven't been able to continue to at this stage, I will go back and read them all once I am able to deal with things better.
I will be back posting this week as well, sorry for my absence but my little fur family needed me and I needed them.
This is the last time I got to witness "choir" practice, a few days before Ted said it was time. They would sit or stand facing each other and bark and howl! Channeling their inner wolf! Lol. Watch with the sound on. Xxx

Its with a completely shattered heart that I let you know, my beautiful, brave boy, Ted passed away this morning. It was very peaceful, surrounded by all who love him so very much.

I know, due to the amount of love and kindness that you all give me, a lot of you will say kind things, but could you please forgive me if, just this once I dont reply to all of them individually, I cant right now. But know its all so appreciated by me, so very much.

When he was diagnosed with this aggressive cancer he was given 4-6mths if we were super lucky, Ted gave us 8.

I will miss him more than any words can say.

Please dont put the tear emjoi on this post, just give him love he deserved in his 16yrs of life, that I am privileged to have been part of and loved my him.

Much love to you all Helen xxxx

really wanted to show you this in real time! but internet does not agree!! so this is twice the pace!

I have ended up laying down a light pastel pencil for the 1st layer and then my coloured pencil on the top, finding thats working quite well on the pastel mat, I seem to be able to get the layers down faster and as I am impatient that suits me fine! lol.

It's all about the details for me. Even the smallest mark can change the feel of a piece. I can always feel when somethings not 100% right and will loose sleep until I figure it out.
Right now I'm in a bit of a muddle in my head, which isn't usual for me, but I am feeling I need to challenge myself more. To explore my art, I've seen some things that are making me want to do do something a bit crazier, just not sure what yet. I guess sometimes we all want to break out of our mould and go explore, like we used to do when we were kids. Do you guys feel like that at times?

so this is slowly taking shape, but its a bit rough round the edges, (bit like me!) think it will be that way until everything is in place and then I will go back, clean up the feathers, make them a bit neater as they look a bit scrappy. But am thinking this is going to one of those pieces that really doesnt come together until the end! oh and please excuse my crappy photography this week! dont know what I was doing? Hope you can see past that!! lol

Oh and thanks so much to everyone who wished Ted well, he has picked up a little bit and is resting more comfortably now, esp as I am cooking fresh streak and chicken for his breakky and dinner!!

Hi guys, sorry I've been a bit absent here this week. Ted's seen a bit poorley and so I've been somewhat preoccupied. He has a chest infection, well hoping that is what it is and not the cancer spreading to his lungs, as the x-ray images are unsure. He seems to have picked up a little today, so fingers crossed. It's been 8 mths since he was diagnosed and Chris said we might have 6mths if we are lucky. Well obviously nobody told Ted! ... See MoreSee Less

My second crack at this one! Now doing it in colored pencil on pastel mat. Feeling much better about it.
However this will be one of the most difficult things I've attempted in pencil. Loads of subtle color and light changes!!
So fingers crossed it doesn't end up with the first attempt, where is that I hear you ask?
In the bin!!
