From my Easel to You

Why do I paint?  I was asked that question once, the answer was, because I love it, because I can, but I paint because it is who I am. It is a part of me that cannot be denied.

To paint the soft eye of a horse or the muzzle with its fine whiskers, the grace and beauty of movement, for me is my dream. I have loved and lost some wonderful animals of my own, they taught me the importance of being true to your animals as I paint them, the finished piece must capture all that is them.

I’m very proud to showcase my Fine art prints in the shop. When you buy from me you are not buying a mass produced product you are buying hundreds of hours of experimentation, years of frustration and moments of pure joy, something made with feeling and pride.

I was also invited to show paintings at the prestigious World Cup Polo event in the Hunter Valley in 2018 and to be part of the Emerson Exhibition at the highly acclaimed Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort in the Blue Mountains.

To be an artist is who I am to the exclusion of all else. When you are my client you get a piece of my life, a piece of my soul.

MEET THE TEAM

I would like to introduce you to my wonderful team members, I could not manage without their love and support.

ceo
Ted

My name is Ted; I am the CEO, I am the one who is responsible for keeping this whole show on the road! For making sure Mum works hard to fulfil her commitment to you, to give you the most beautiful painting possible. I am also required to keep others (namely Cloudy and Scrumpy) from bothering her, to keep her company on my strategically placed bed and to also make sure she has breaks, mostly so I can get treats.

creative director & quality control

Cloudy

My name is Cloudy, I am the creative director, my role is to direct…. Creatively….. not really sure what that means but apparently I’m very good at it. I am also responsible for quality control, rest assured I constantly jump up on Mum’s lap while she is painting to make sure she is doing the best possible job for you. I also believe I’m the one in charge of quality control of the treats.

pr & sales

Scrumpy

My name is Scrumpy, I am PR and Sales, I am excellent at my job just because once you look into my eyes, my chocolate muffin eyes, see only my eyes, you will just melt and I will be able to get you to do anything I want!! Although, I may have to work on my technique a bit, as it doesn’t seem to be working with Mum when I’m turning on my best chocolate muffin eyes to get the treats.

the apprentice

Riv

Hi my name is Riv, I am the apprentice. I am only young and have a lot to learn but one day I hope to take over the reins of mum’s business and my aim is to keep it all driving forward, but at the moment I am a bit of a dogsbody. I am learning a lot, how to play with a stick, how to put on my mud makeup just when mum wants to take my photo and how to play catch me if you can. Ted, Cloudy and Scrumpy are wonderful, they encourage me in everything I do. Mum says she is hoping I get there in the end.

the stunning riding pony stallion INXS of Sefton aka Mikey
I painted this for his owners 40th birthday. Even though in the original photo he was plated up and wearing his bridle it was decided to just have him in his glorious natural state.
So wonderful for me to paint.

Painted this back in 2013! The stunningly handsome Junior, he was a Christmas present!
He was quite difficult to paint due to his spots being on his skin as well as in his coat and all different shades and colors. Kept getting lost in them! lol.
If anyone is thinking about Christmas paintings you do need to let me know as I'm pretty much booked up right through into next year, and I will only be taking a small amount of Christmas work this year. So ho ho ho, now is the time to start thinking! yes in July!! lol

When someone asks me to paint there pet, I get so excited! It never gets old!
Each time I get such a sense of anticipation of how it will look, what personality will emerge as I paint!
I often feel as if they are with me. I will often get teary if they have passed away.
Its as if they are in the room with me!
I appreciate the trust placed in me, each and every time, that I will capture your special, loved pet.
My love of commission work flows strongly and I cant wait to do more.
This is the beautiful Maggie!!

I'm so close now I can taste it!! omg, only the neck to go.
This has been an epic effort for me, but I will be honest, I have actually enjoyed every minute of it! There will be some tweaking to do, but I love this.
Am thinking of calling it,
"Ruffled"
what do you think of that for a name?…

golly! Painted this back in 2017 for the World Cup Polo at the Sydney Polo club! This seems like it was a life time ago. After painting this I said I really wanted to paint more polo and I really do, but I never have!
time is not my friend, I have so many things on the go at any given time and so much more I want to do! I have some truly amazing commission work under way, and a load more coming up, for some very patient wonderful people! So I'm trying to do the original work at night after I'm done with commissions for the day.
So much to do so little time! lol, chanting Dori, keep on swimming, keep on swimming......
thanks to Stephen Mowbray Photography for the awesome reference!
