From my Easel to You

Why do I paint?  I was asked that question once, the answer was, because I love it, because I can, but I paint because it is who I am. It is a part of me that cannot be denied.

To paint the soft eye of a horse or the muzzle with its fine whiskers, the grace and beauty of movement, for me is my dream. I have loved and lost some wonderful animals of my own, they taught me the importance of being true to your animals as I paint them, the finished piece must capture all that is them.

I’m very proud to showcase my Fine art prints in the shop. When you buy from me you are not buying a mass produced product you are buying hundreds of hours of experimentation, years of frustration and moments of pure joy, something made with feeling and pride.

I was also invited to show paintings at the prestigious World Cup Polo event in the Hunter Valley in 2018 and to be part of the Emerson Exhibition at the highly acclaimed Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort in the Blue Mountains.

To be an artist is who I am to the exclusion of all else. When you are my client you get a piece of my life, a piece of my soul.

WINX – LIMITED EDITION PRINT

So some time ago I was given permission from Debbie Kepitis via Analese Trollope of Chris Waller Racing to paint Winx, I did this painting after her 25th win. The owners all saw it at that time however something Patty Tighe said made me decide not to show it until after she had safely finished racing! I am somewhat superstitious!

So that I could share my painting with you I have created a strictly limited edition print run. This is your chance to own a bespoke piece of Winx history, each hand signed by me with a certificate of authenticity. Once they are sold this print image will never be available again. When you purchase from me you, you do so knowing that I spent countless hours creating this and it was painted from my heart and soul.

I genuinely hope you love my painting as my as I loved creating it!
Helen

MEET THE TEAM

I would like to introduce you to my wonderful team members, I could not manage without their love and support.

ceo
Ted

My name is Ted; I am the CEO, I am the one who is responsible for keeping this whole show on the road! For making sure Mum works hard to fulfil her commitment to you, to give you the most beautiful painting possible. I am also required to keep others (namely Cloudy and Scrumpy) from bothering her, to keep her company on my strategically placed bed and to also make sure she has breaks, mostly so I can get treats.

creative director & quality control

Cloudy

My name is Cloudy, I am the creative director, my role is to direct…. Creatively….. not really sure what that means but apparently I’m very good at it. I am also responsible for quality control, rest assured I constantly jump up on Mum’s lap while she is painting to make sure she is doing the best possible job for you. I also believe I’m the one in charge of quality control of the treats.

pr & sales

Scrumpy

My name is Scrumpy, I am PR and Sales, I am excellent at my job just because once you look into my eyes, my chocolate muffin eyes, see only my eyes, you will just melt and I will be able to get you to do anything I want!! Although, I may have to work on my technique a bit, as it doesn’t seem to be working with Mum when I’m turning on my best chocolate muffin eyes to get the treats.

the apprentice

Riv

Hi my name is Riv, I am the apprentice. I am only young and have a lot to learn but one day I hope to take over the reins of mum’s business and my aim is to keep it all driving forward, but at the moment I am a bit of a dogsbody. I am learning a lot, how to play with a stick, how to put on my mud makeup just when mum wants to take my photo and how to play catch me if you can. Ted, Cloudy and Scrumpy are wonderful, they encourage me in everything I do. Mum says she is hoping I get there in the end.

Oh what can I say about this painting! This is Eddie, he raced under the name of Pinkman. This painting is in memory off, he belonged to Teegan, and this painting was a graduation present for her and a beautiful way to remember him. I so loved painting him, its such an expressive photo, his colour changed from dark brown to black, in the photo he was a lot lighter so i opted for a middle tone. Thank you so much Kelli and Teegan for asking me to paint him and I'm so glad he is home with you again. xxx ... See MoreSee Less

So I have been showing you the progress of this commission, here is the final piece. In loving memory of colty, aka - Everleigh Tiger Trek. This stunning stallion carries all the old foundation breeding of Abbey, Chan & Leo Grey with double crosses in many lines. He was so very handsome, a heritage listed ASH, very old school & very much like his ancestor Chan, he was certainly a character, and the softest nature.
this was the lovely message I got from Emma after she had given it to her mum! Thanks so much for trusting me with Colty.
"Mum absolutely loved it!!
She cried, I cried... a very special present. Thank you so much!! I love his little muzzle whiskers, they are captured so well in your drawing too"!

sooo started a bit of a project! I first saw Lisa Gordon photos when I was asked to paint a commission from one of them, and I saw how stunning they were! then I saw this shot, took my breath away and I just had to do a drawing of it!! Lisa was so kind and sent me the high res shot, Its a big pencil drawing, full of challenge! and I'm enjoying every minute of it! I'm using HB, my fav mechanical pencil and 5-6b pencils. The paper is very textured but adds to it I think! long way to go yet!

Sooo she is finished! really enjoyed putting this one together, I used the pose from one shot and her head from another shot and I had something else planned for her outfit and background but the simplicity and elegance of this pose just spoke to me so kept it simple so that the focus is all about that brief moment. Hope you like her!

This is the lovely Deejay, what a little cracker of a pony he is. His owner said, “Deejay is a very very special pony to the both of us. I’ve had a few horses in my life but this pony has helped us get through a lot. He is a very calm laid back pony on ground and under saddle. He’s so smart and has personality plus, as they all do! He’s just a typical Arab in the paddock throwing his head around” Really enjoyed painting him. These type of horses are worth more than their weight in gold, they teach us so much, and he is so very loved, which is how it should be. Thanks Jenevieve for trusting me with his portrait. ...
